Roles & Responsibilities The Quantity Surveyor (Tender – Electrical) plays a key role in supporting the tendering and cost management processes for electrical works within construction projects. The role involves evaluating project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates, negotiating with suppliers and contractors, and ensuring effective financial control from pre-contract to award stage. Job Responsibilities · Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender budgets for Electrical works in construction, ACMV, and A&A (Alteration & Addition) projects. · Analyze material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs to ensure accurate pricing. · Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction plans to determine comprehensive project cost requirements. · Identify discrepancies, design issues, or cost-impact items and highlight them to the project team. · Identify opportunities for cost savings through alternative materials, design adjustments, or value engineering proposals. · Recommend solutions that maintain project quality and performance standards. · Prepare, compile, and submit tender documents, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and competitive bid proposals. · Source, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors . · Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and delivery conditions with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective outcomes. · Ensure compliance with project budget, scope, and technical requirements. · Assist in tracking tender costs and prepare cost comparison reports for management review. · Highlight cost variations, risks, and financial considerations to support decision-making. · Conduct site visits when necessary to assess site conditions, access, and constructability issues that may affect pricing. · Address queries, clarifications, and discrepancies related to tender pricing, BOQ items, or contractual terms. · Support resolution of cost-related claims or disputes when required. · Provide cost-related advice to clients, project managers, and engineers. · Collaborate closely with internal departments (Engineering, Procurement, Project Team) to ensure alignment on tender requirements. · Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably in Electrical or MEP works. · Diploma in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field. · Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. · Proficient in MS Office, cost estimation software, and project management tools. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills. · Able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. · Good negotiation skills with experience in dealing with contractors and suppliers. · Understanding of risk management and contract administration. · Familiarity with construction industry regulations, standards, and tender procedures.
