Role Summary The PYP Homeroom Principal supports the effective implementation of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) within the homeroom setting. This role ensures consistency, quality teaching, and strong pastoral care across PYP homerooms, while supporting homeroom teachers in curriculum delivery, classroom management, assessment practices, and student wellbeing. The coordinator works closely with the PYP Coordinator and leadership team to uphold IB standards and foster a nurturing, inquiry-based learning environment. Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Programme Implementation Support the implementation of the IB PYP framework across all homeroom classes Ensure homeroom teachers align planning, teaching, assessment, and reporting with PYP requirements Assist in the coordination and monitoring of Units of Inquiry (UOI) within homerooms Support documentation and evidence collection for IB authorization, evaluation, and reflection Teacher Support & Coordination Provide guidance and mentoring to homeroom teachers on PYP pedagogy and classroom practices Facilitate regular homeroom meetings to ensure consistency and collaboration Support new or relief teachers in understanding PYP expectations and routines Share best practices, resources, and strategies among homeroom teachers Student Wellbeing & Pastoral Care Support homeroom teachers in managing student behaviour, wellbeing, and social-emotional development Assist in monitoring student progress and identifying learning or wellbeing concerns Work closely with teachers, parents, and support staff to address student needs Assessment & Reporting Support consistent assessment practices aligned with PYP philosophy Guide homeroom teachers in report writing, portfolios, and student-led conferences Assist in tracking student progress and learning outcomes Parent & Community Engagement Support clear communication between homeroom teachers and parents Participate in parent meetings, conferences, and school events when required Promote understanding of the PYP among parents and the school community Administrative & Leadership Support Support the PYP Coordinator and school leadership in daily operations related to homerooms Assist in timetable coordination, class routines, and school-wide initiatives Contribute to continuous improvement of the PYP programme Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field IB PYP training and experience strongly preferred Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a PYP or inquiry-based setting Experience as a homeroom teacher within the PYP
