About this role
The Role Working in the laboratory environment to perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures while rotating through various laboratory discipline and work shift to deliver accurate , reliable and precise test results in a prompt and efficient manner which assists the physicians in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patient’s condition. Key accountabilities Performs registration of patient samples, handling telephone inquiries by clients, printing and faxing of patient results. Performs and verifies or approves results for a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in any of the assigned laboratory discipline(s) Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of instruments used in the laboratory and to report to section lead of instruments not functioning properly. Performs 6-monthly validation of minor equipment such as thermometer, pipette, timer and blood box. Participates and performs any inter-laboratory quality assurance (IQA), external quality assurance (EQA) and proficiency testing programs that the laboratory is subscribed Performs weekly or bi-weekly or monthly inventory stock check of laboratory consumables and reagents via RMS and submits to the section lead. Performs annual reading of applicable laboratory SOPs. Participates in internal or external continuing medical education (CME) and other professional development programs. Participates in the annual quality improvement projects in the laboratory. Check and complies all applicable safety regulations in the laboratory and reports non-compliances to laboratory safety officers for corrective actions Supports flexible staffing requirements in the laboratory discipline and participates in shift duties as arranged by the section lead or manager. Actively participate in company approved communication platforms or events such as Townhalls, Communication Board, Staff roll calls or meetings, Company/Lab bonding events Develops good and harmonious relationships with other laboratory and hospital staff such as attendants, nursing and other ancillary medical staff. Maintains a clean and well-organized work area as well as ensuring documents are properly arranged and maintained. Any other duties as assigned from time to time by a section lead or manager Qualifications & Experience Recognized Diploma or Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology, or Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent.
