About the Role As an Assistant Director in the Registries of Patents, Designs and Plant Varieties, you'll be instrumental in shaping one of the world's top-ranked IP regimes by blending robust policy work with data-driven insights. Key Responsibilities • Conduct policy research, analysis and stakeholder engagement to develop evidence-based policies, strategies and initiatives that advance Singapore’s intellectual property ecosystem. • Lead the implementation of policy and programme initiatives, including legislative and regulatory changes, operationalisation, stakeholder communications and change management. • Leverage data analytics, dashboards and reporting tools to generate actionable insights, identify emerging trends, support performance monitoring, and inform policy development and programme evaluation. • Monitor international developments and represent Singapore’s interests in regional and international forums, including ASEAN and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), while building relationships with overseas counterparts and stakeholders. This may require overseas travel 1–3 times a year, with each trip typically not exceeding five days. • Lead cross-functional projects and contribute to organisational and sectoral strategic planning, including coordinating and supervising project team members, managing stakeholders and risks, identifying emerging opportunities and challenges, and driving continuous improvement in policy and programme delivery. Write to us if you have/are: • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in policy development, strategy, programme management or implementation, with demonstrated ability to use data and evidence to support decision-making. • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information, identify key issues and develop practical policy and programme recommendations. • Proficiency in data analysis, visualisation and reporting, including the use of Excel, dashboards or business intelligence tools to generate insights and support performance monitoring. • Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues and data-driven insights clearly to diverse audiences, including senior management. • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment. • A creative, self-motivated and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and apply innovative approaches to policy, operational and strategic challenges. • Relevant domain knowledge or technical skills, such as familiarity with intellectual property, innovation policy, law, economics, public policy, patents, designs or technology-related domains; familiarity with Python, R or SQL will be an advantage.
