Finance Director Role Summary The Finance Director serves as the organisation's primary finance business partner, overseeing all aspects of financial management, including financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, performance management, treasury, compliance, and corporate reporting. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer or Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Director ensures the integrity of the organisation's financial operations while providing strategic financial insights to support informed business decisions. The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and leadership capabilities to manage a team of finance professionals, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance obligations. As a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team, the Finance Director analyses both internal and external financial data, monitors economic and business trends, identifies financial and operational risks, and recommends strategies that drive sustainable growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Business Partnering · Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to senior management on financial performance, business risks, cash flow, working capital, financing, and investment decisions. · Analyse the organisation's financial performance and position, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas requiring management attention. · Develop meaningful financial insights and management reports to support business planning and strategic decision-making. · Evaluate investments by considering financial returns, taxation, inflation, and risk factors. · Recommend appropriate accounting policies and financial controls that align with statutory and reporting requirements. · Monitor key financial and operational performance indicators and recommend improvement initiatives. Financial Planning & Reporting · Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning process. · Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, consolidated financial statements, and management reports. · Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, and company policies. · Analyse financial ratios, profitability, liquidity, efficiency, and capital performance to support executive decision-making. Risk Management, Treasury & Compliance · Assess financial risks relating to treasury, funding, investments, and financial institutions, recommending appropriate mitigation strategies. · Oversee treasury management activities, including cash flow planning and liquidity management. · Ensure compliance with tax regulations by overseeing corporate tax planning, tax filings, and optimisation of tax positions. · Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes to enhance governance and operational efficiency. Audit & Governance · Plan, coordinate, and manage the annual external and internal audit process. · Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings and compliance matters. · Implement corrective actions arising from audit observations and continuously improve governance practices. Systems & Process Improvement · Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance finance processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. · Identify, implement, and optimise financial systems, business intelligence tools, and automation solutions to improve reporting and data analytics. · Ensure finance policies, procedures, and documentation remain current, effective, and compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements. Leadership & People Management · Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture. · Build organisational capability by coaching team members and promoting continuous learning and professional development. · Allocate resources effectively to meet business priorities and ensure timely delivery of finance activities. Requirements · Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. · Professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is preferred. · Membership with a recognised professional accounting body is an advantage. · Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a Directorial …
