Summary of Job The Desktop Support Engineer provides first-line IT support in a fast-paced trading environment, ensuring reliable operations of end-user devices, trading systems, and workplace technology. The role supports day-to-day IT operations, including incident resolution, trader workstation support, and IT asset management, while maintaining high service standards and system availability. Key Duties and Responsibilities End-User & Desktop Support Provide Level 1 IT support for end-user devices, applications, and workplace technology Manage and resolve incidents and service requests in line with SLAs Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems and IT peripherals Trading Floor & Application Support Support trading platforms, market data systems, ETRM/CTRM (e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters/Eikon. WebICE, CoreTRM, Endur, Allegro etc.) Assist with trader workstation setups (e.g. multi-monitor configurations and specialised devices) and troubleshoot performance or connectivity issues IT Operations & Asset Management Perform device imaging and system setup, ensuring standard configurations Manage IT asset procurement and inventory, including vendor coordination Incident Management & Continuous Improvement Escalate complex issues where required and maintain accurate support documentation Identify recurring issues and support process and service improvements Job Requirements Education Level and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Specific Knowledge/Skills Mandatory: Working knowledge of trading-floor IT operations and support within an energy trading, commodities trading, or financial trading environment. Preferred: Experience providing Level 1 application support for ETRM/CTRM platforms, market data systems, and trading applications. This includes basic user administration, incident triage, monitoring, issue resolution, and coordination with application vendors and support teams. Familiarity with trading platforms or market data systems (e.g. Bloombergy, Reuters/Eikon, WebICE and ETRM/CTRM solutions (e.g. CoreTRM, Endur, Allegro) is highly desireable Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment Relevant Past Experience Minimum 1–3 years of IT desktop support, service desk, or end-user computing experience within the energy trading industry. Candidates must demonstrate experience supporting business-critical trading floor operations and users in a fast-paced environment Hands-on Level 1 support experience for ETRM/CTRM platforms, market data applications, and trading-related systems, including user onboarding/offboarding, access management, incident management, and vendor escalation.
