Job Description: The Assistant Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects at client sites, with a primary focus on Building Management Systems (BMS) and Addition & Alteration (A&A) works. The role involves serving as a critical bridge between field execution and project management for the entire project lifecycle - from site surveys, technical proposals, shop drawing submissions to subcontractor coordination, equipment installation and system programming - Air Handling Unit (AHU) / Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) / Chiller- and final Testing & Commissioning (T&C), ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance. Duties and responsibilities Project Planning & Submissions: Evaluate project requirements and generate feasible technical proposals; prepare and submit shop drawings, point schedules, materials, write-ups, and other necessary documentation for client/authority approval Site Management & Progress Tracking: Conduct on-site surveys, attend project coordination meetings, record the minutes of meetings, evaluate installation progress on-site, track overall project milestones, and assist in preparing and submitting progress reports A&A Work Implementation: Plan, organize, coordinate, and execute all Addition and Alteration (A&A) works promptly, ensuring absolute compliance with all authority regulations and client specifications Testing & Commissioning: Lead, coordinate, and execute Testing & Commissioning (T&C) works for installation projects with proper engineering documentation and/or special performance test form Subcontractor & Vendor Liaison: Liaise with subcontractors and vendors, coordinating work between the client’s appointed representatives and subcontractors to ensure compliance with the scope of work review and handle Purchase Orders (POs) Engineering Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues during project execution, and handle critical equipment/system breakdown calls to restore optimal system performance on-site Documentation & Training: Prepare detailed field service reports, approval documentation, materials delivery orders, and hand over all the related necessary documentation in compliance with safety and operational standards. Conduct hands-on system operation training for clients and field technicians Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related Engineering discipline 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in engineering project execution, field service, or maintenance of construction projects or A&A building projects Good understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical or Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems Hands-on knowledge of Controller Programming - Air Handling Unit (AHU) / Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) / Chiller Controls Proficient in interpreting and reviewing engineering layout blueprints and schematic diagrams Proactive, independent, and capable of driving site progress with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal and communication skills Good commercial awareness with the ability to handle technical clarifications and vendor quotes Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD Flexible work schedule with a willingness to travel to various client sites island-wide Work Location: Client/Contract Site – Island wide
