About this role
With increasing pace of change and uncertainty in the operating environment, the Strategic Planning Division plays a critical role in stewarding Singapore’s limited land resources to meet the needs and aspirations of Singaporeans. This includes planning for key national priorities such as housing and economic development, contributing to innovative approaches in creating new land and space, while ensuring that land use remains sustainable, flexible, adaptable and resilient for the future. The officer will be part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with significant opportunities to learn and grow while working on complex challenges to improve Singapore’s future. The officer will have the opportunity to engage in policy and planning issues across different timeframes (e.g. safeguarding land for long term vs addressing immediate needs), land use domains (e.g., residential, commercial, community, military uses) and geographical regions in Singapore. The officer will also gain a deeper understanding of how to carefully balance competing demands and make calibrated trade-offs among different considerations (e.g., fiscal, social, economic, environmental), interest groups such as nature and heritage groups, and local communities. The role will also allow the officer to work with a wide range of Government and non-Government stakeholders and sharpen their relationship management, stakeholder engagement and public communication skills. 1. Deep Critical Thinking - Distil critical issues and sense-make from a wide range of information, arriving at effective policy solutions 2. Systems Thinking - Connect issues with larger system and identify inter-dependencies across issues/ domains/ agencies 3. Internal Stakeholder Management - Drive alignment on policy positions and approaches among key internal stakeholders 4. Co-create and Co-deliver with External Stakeholders - Mobilise citizens and stakeholder to co-create and co-deliver solutions to policy issues 5. Clear and Concise Writing - Crystalise core issues via clear and concise writing.
