You will gain a mountain-top view of Singapore’s economic priorities and challenges and contribute to shaping its future by identifying and developing new growth areas. You will also build a broad skillset – including stakeholder management, research and analysis, and systems thinking. Key Responsibilities Some of the key roles played by the officer are: • Regular horizon scanning to gather economic intelligence and better understand our evolving operating context • Conducting in-depth research and analysis of geoeconomic trends, new growth areas, and emerging technologies, and translating insights into high-level recommendations • Conduct scenario planning to make sense of possible future trajectories and better prepare the system for shocks and surprises • Develop and refine the processes, tools and methodologies for horizon scanning and futures thinking, leveraging AI and digital tools to enhance the team’s capabilities • Collaborate with relevant ministries (e.g. PMO, MDDI) and agencies (e.g. EDB, EnterpriseSG) to provide strategic foresight • Support the work of key Ministerial and MTI management-level platforms. Requirements You should apply for this position if you have a passion and interest in geoeconomic issues, and have the following attributes: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write and present well • Strong ability to think deeply and broadly through different subjects, and to make connections between them – one of the major demands in this role is to frame and synthesise complex issues and differing opinions. • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to source and synthesise disparate trends to provide meaningful insights (creative storytelling using often imperfect data). • Fast learner with a curious mind, committed to driving innovation and improving efficiency • Self-starter with the tenacity to clarify ideas and create structure in situations that are novel, uncertain, and ambiguous
