The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of a full-time Research Assistant (RA) on a 6-month contract at the Learning Sciences and Assessment Department. The RA will work on the following projects. Project Title: Empowering Students through Learning Analytics: The Role of Visualization Design Project Introduction: Join a project exploring how learning analytics tools like dashboards influence student decision-making and self-regulation. We aim to identify key design features (e.g., data metrics, prompts) and evaluate their impact on student outcomes such as motivation and emotion. The project involves analyzing survey data. Project title: Enhance Students' Interdisciplinary Learning through Large Language Model-Empowered Learning Analytics Project Introduction: This project develops LLM-enabled interdisciplinary learning analytics to support feedback and feedforward in higher education in Singapore, while examining effective human–AI collaborative patterns for interdisciplinary learning, particularly how AI can support students in integrating ideas across disciplinary boundaries. The candidate will support qualitative coding of data, system testing and user study. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology, or a related field. Candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline may be considered for appointment as Research Associate. Experience or strong interest in educational research, especially in technology-supported learning. Experience with or knowledge on basic survey and interview data collection methods. Good quantitative analysis skills (e.g., descriptive analysis and t-tests). Good qualitative analysis skills (e.g., content analysis and thematic analysis). Good spoken and written communication skills, especially for communicating with teachers, students, research team members, and administrative offices. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage timelines, documents, participant information, and project-related administrative tasks. Careful, responsible, and attentive to detail when handling research data, participant incentives, claims, and project documentation. Responsibilities Support the overall coordination and day-to-day management of the research project. Assist with project administration, including preparing documents, organizing files, tracking timelines, and maintaining project records. Help coordinate data collection by communicating with teachers, students, instructors, and research team members. Assist with project-related administrative processes, such as submitting claims, preparing reimbursement documents, and liaising with relevant administrative offices. Conduct basic survey data collection and analysis under the guidance of the project leaders. Conduct qualitative data collection through user study and interviews as well as analyses such as content analysis and thematic analysis under the guidance of the project leaders. Support the preparation of project progress reports, final reports, presentation materials, and research summaries. Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigators.
