Asian School of the Environment / Earth Observatory of Singapore Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Assistant Professor The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) (https://www.ntu.edu.sg/ase) is an interdisciplinary school at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) that uses Earth and environmental science, engineering, technology, and the social sciences to address key environmental challenges. ASE is a school within the NTU College of Science (CoS). The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) (https://earthobservatory.sg/) is are search institute with the mission to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies. The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) in Tropical Meteorology at the Asian School of the Environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research and teaching in the field of tropical meteorology. Areas of interest may include cloud formation and rainfall processes, extreme events, regional weather variability in Southeast Asia, and tropical urban weather. There search approach may encompass theoretical modelling and/or observational and experimental techniques, but we particularly encourage applicants who plan to combine these approaches and work across the disciplinary divide between theoretical modelling and observational/experimental techniques. We also encourage candidates to develop interdisciplinary collaborations within the School and within the College. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in meteorology and climate science. The successful candidate is expected to: · Establisha world-class research programme; · Enhancethe College’s visibility as an international leader in education and research; · Secureresearch funding from competitive grants and industry partnerships; · Mentorand supervise graduate students and postdoctoral researchers; · Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the university and with external partners; · Deliver engaging and effective teaching to both undergraduate and graduate students; and · Undertake essential administrative responsibilities within the Schools. Requirements: · PhD in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or a related subject. · Strong research record and relevant publications in reputable peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. · A good track record relative to career stage of mentoring research staff, students, or interns in relevant fields · Preferable to have experience with both theoretical and practical techniques in meteorology · Preferable to have prior teaching experience · Preferable to have secured independent research funding.
