Art History at SoH NTU’s Art History curriculum equips students with a thorough knowledge and critical awareness of the global histories of art, which are taught through lectures, seminars, field trips, practical projects, and encounters with practitioners. Students are trained in the methods and rigours of researching and writing about art, with a range of specialisations. The Department of Art History at SoH proudly offers Singapore’s only undergraduate double major programme in Art History, as well as graduate research degrees including MA (Research) and PhD in Art History. Students at both undergraduate and graduate levels are encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary studies and independent research, reflecting the strengths of the Department, the School, and the discipline. Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Art History SoH invites outstanding academics to apply for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Art History. Applications are welcome from academics working in any area of art history. Most relevant fields include Asian art histories—particularly East Asian, South Asian, and/or West Asian art histories—as well as art histories of the Islamic world and histories of global contemporary art. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting art-historical research and will also participate in undergraduate and graduate level teaching as well as leadership/service duties, at a level that aligns with the expectations of a research-intensive university. The successful candidate will be provided with a generous Start-Up Grant to support their active research agenda and publications, and will also be encouraged to secure competitive research grants administered by SoH, as well as the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and other organisations. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to their own research areas of expertise. Requirements Successful candidates should have a track record of excellence appropriate to the position level in research, teaching, and publication. Requirements at all levels include: A PhD in art history or in a related field. Demonstrated excellence in research, evidenced by a strong publication record and a well-developed plan for future research and high-quality publications. Demonstrated capacity to deliver excellent teaching. Good communication and interpersonal skills. In addition, requirements at the Associate Professor and Full Professor level include: Recognition in the research community, such as invited talks, awards, or memberships in professional societies. Proven ability to secure research funding. Demonstrated capacity to contribute to curriculum development. A strong track record of supervising students, research staff, and/or postdocs, as well as mentoring junior faculty. Experience in leadership and/or service roles.
