Job Description We are seeking a full-time Research Fellow to join our team at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), National University of Singapore (NUS). The Singapore Population Health Studies (SPHS) is a population-based health research initiative at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore. SPHS aims to (1) investigate the interactions between lifestyle, physiological, genetic and other omics biomarkers and their impact on health and longevity, (2) serve as a platform to monitor risk factors in the population and gain insight into determinants of health-related behaviours, and (3) understand disease etiology in urban Asian settings, and the development of improved preventive and therapeutic measures for Singapore and other Asian populations. SPHS is a collection of seven independent cohorts spanning 20 years. These include three independent phases of the Multi-Ethnic Cohort (MEC1, MEC2 and MEC3), Diabetic Cohort (DC), Singapore Health Studies (SH2012 and SH2), and the Community Health Study (CHS). (https://blog.nus.edu.sg/sphs/) We are inviting a motivated Research Fellow to join the SPHS team to support the use of SPHS data for research and policy translation. The Research Fellow will lead and support research projects to generate insights that can advance precision medicine and population health. The role involves managing, analyzing and interpreting SPHS data, and working closely with clinicians and other researchers in multi-disciplinary research teams. Job scope: • Research o Develop research questions, study designs, and analysis plans using SPHS data. o Conduct statistical analyses, longitudinal modelling, or machine learning approaches as appropriate. o Lead manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and grant-related deliverables. o Support research programmes involving SPHS, such as the National Precision Medicine Program and PRECISE-SG100K. • Operational/Administrative o Clean, harmonize, and maintain research-ready data freezes for research, including the generation of derived variables and preparation of data dictionaries. o Develop documentation, codebooks, or tools to support reproducible research. o Facilitate SPHS data requests and collaborations by managing the SPHS data request concierge. Qualifications Requirements: • PhD in Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Public Health, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, or related fields. • Experience with cohort studies and large-scale datasets. • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL). • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Highly organized and able to work effectively independently as well as with a team. The following requirements will be considered as an advantage: • Experience with health data standards (ICD, CPT, LOINC, SNOMED CT). • Experience with multi-omics research. • Experience with machine learning, natural language processing, or predictive modelling. • Experience working with secure research environments (e.g., TREs, data enclaves).
