About this role

Your role You responsible for inspection, assessment, repair verification, and fitness-for-service evaluation of aboveground atmospheric storage tanks in accordance with API standards, and company integrity management requirements. The role ensures safe and reliable operation of storage tanks through inspection planning, execution, documentation review, and repair oversight. Tank Inspection Activities Perform external, internal, and on-stream inspections of aboveground storage tanks in accordance with API 653 requirements. Conduct tank condition assessments, remaining life calculations, and corrosion rate evaluations. Review previous inspection history and integrity records. Verify tank shell, roof, bottom, annular plates, nozzles, manways, and structural components. Assess settlement, out-of-roundness, peaking, buckling, and distortion. Witness and evaluate NDT activities including: Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) Vacuum Box Testing (VBT) Radiographic Testing (RT) Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) where applicable Ensure inspection findings are documented and reported accurately. Prepare inspection reports with repair recommendations and next inspection intervals. Repair and Alteration Oversight Verify repair and alteration activities comply with API 653 and approved engineering requirements. Witness replacement of shell plates, floor plates, roof plates, and nozzles. Verify repair documentation and repair packages. Monitor welding activities during tank repair projects. Witness hydrostatic testing and leak testing where applicable. Ensure repairs are completed safely and in accordance with approved procedures. WPS and PQR Review Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) relevant to tank fabrication and repair activities. Verify Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) meet ASME Section IX and project requirements. Review Welder Qualification Records (WQTR/WPQ). Ensure welding consumables, essential variables, and qualification ranges comply with applicable codes. Verify welding procedures are suitable for tank materials and service conditions. Assess heat treatment and post-weld heat treatment requirements when applicable. Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) Review Review contractor and vendor Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). Verify hold points, witness points, and surveillance points are identified correctly. Ensure required inspections comply with API 653, API 650, project specifications, and client requirements. Coordinate with QA/QC teams on inspection activities. Verify completion of documentation and inspection records against approved ITPs. Participate in pre-inspection and kick-off meetings. Integrity Assessment Evaluate corrosion mechanisms affecting storage tanks. Review RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) recommendations where applicable. Assess tank suitability for continued service. Review fitness-for-service assessments in accordance with API 579. Recommend inspection intervals based on integrity assessment findings. Documentation and Reporting Prepare and review: API 653 inspection reports Tank repair reports NDT reports Thickness measurement reports Settlement survey reports Hydrotest records Inspection release notes Maintain inspection databases and integrity records. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements. Safety Responsibilities Comply with refinery and terminal HSE requirements. Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments. Ensure confined space inspection activities are conducted safely. Promote safety culture during inspection and repair projects. You are what we are looking for if you: Have Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. Have valid API 653 Certification Have ASNT Level II certifications in applicable NDT methods preferred Have minimum 5 to 10 years of inspection experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, or Storage Terminal facilities Have experience in tank turnaround/shutdown projects Have proven experience reviewing WPS, PQR, WQT/WPQ documentation Have experience reviewing and implementing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
