Job ID: 20302 Location: Raffles Place / Clarke Quay Working hours: 9am to 6pm Salary: up to $4,500 (Depending on experiences) Job Description Provide fluid, real-time consecutive interpretation (English & Japanese) during virtual and physical media interviews between gaming journalists and the client's Japan-based development/marketing teams. Accurately translate complex gaming terminology, development jargon, and creative design philosophies without losing the original tone or intent. Review media questionnaires before and after interview sessions. Partner with the PR & Marketing Manager to brief development teams on the interview flow and regional context where necessary. Review regional media coverage post-interview to ensure the development team's insights and technical explanations were accurately captured and reported. Maintain an internal regional glossary of official English-to-Japanese gaming terms, character names, and UI elements to ensure consistency across all live sessions and PR materials. Translate, proofread, and cross-check internal and external game-title documents, marketing materials, and PR assets between Japanese and English to ensure cultural alignment. Provide day-to-day operational support for regional marketing activities, business development initiatives, and cross-functional team goals. Support as on-site handler and guide for visiting Japanese development team members and corporate staff, ensuring a seamless and hospitable experience. Assist with stage activities and media support during local and overseas offline gaming events. Willingness to support weekend gaming events and travel overseas for regional conventions as required. Perform other ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned by management to support the lean regional team. Job Requirement Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese, with the ability to translate and interpret accurately between the two languages for documents and systems, including business communications. (JLPT N1 certification or equivalent proficiency is beneficial, but practical conversational fluency in a gaming context takes priority over certifications alone.) Demonstrated capability (or high aptitude) in providing fluid consecutive interpretation between English and Japanese under fast-paced live environments (e.g., press conferences, media interviews, or live presentations). A strong grasp of both Japanese corporate etiquette and cultural nuances. Deep personal passion for video games with extensive firsthand experience playing modern PC and console titles. Familiarity with game mechanics, lore, and community terms used between original Japanese games and English localised versions is advantageous. 1 - 3 years of working experience. Prior experience in PR, marketing, agency environments, localisation, or hospitality is a strong plus. Adaptable professional who wants to combine a deep, love for video games with a career in international PR, marketing, and business development. Comfortable speaking in public or in front of a crowd for live interpretation. Comfortable working weekends during peak event seasons and travelling overseas for regional gaming-related conventions.
