Medical Physicist

Job Responsibilities Assisting the manager in optimising the balance between the beneficial and deleterious effects of radiation, and play a key role in the installation of new equipment with regard to the radiation protection of patients, workers and the public, including the design of radiation shielding. Identify problems and formulate strategies for their solution, interpret new or non-standard information, evaluate unusual situations in a scientific way, communicate scientific opinions clearly and accurately, recognise erroneous situations and take appropriate corrective actions. To provide professional support in other areas of medicine such as photodynamic therapy, optical imaging, use of lasers, therapeutic use of ultrasound and physiological measurement. Update professionally through continuing education, courses and training programmes. Job Requirements A postgraduate degree in medical physics. Clinical training for a period of not less than two years in one of the specialties of medical physics, i.e. radiation therapy, nuclear medicine or diagnostic radiology.
