Job Description - Engineering Assistant Interpretation of codes, standards and specifications: ensuring the requirements of codes, standards and specifications are met. Assistance and agreement with the preparation of Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) Review of Welding Procedure Specification, Procedure Qualification Records and Welder / Welding Operator Qualification Certificate Conduct / witnessing of welder and procedure qualification tests: Witnessing the preparation of test plates and destructive tests and verifying compliance with appropriate standards and specifications Verifying raw material against documentation and markings Verifying that adequate and valid welder approvals are available, and that only approved welders are used in production. Verification of correctness of welding consumables (electrodes, filler wires, consumable inserts, gases, fluxes etc.) Pre-weld inspection: Verification that dimensions, fit-up and weld preparations are in accordance with drawing, code, and specification. In-process welding inspection and surveillance: Surveillance during welding to verify compliance with specified procedures including any preheat, interpass temperature control and post heat requirements. Post weld visual inspection of completed weldment and dimensional check of completed item against specification requirements and drawings. Select welded joints for non destructive testing and witnessing of test. Review the test and inspection reports issued by vendor’s in-house QC or external party. Inspect surface preparation before coating and witness the coating thickness measurement. Check the tagging and markings of completed items and inspect the packing preparation for shipment. Issue / approve release notice of goods for shipment. Inspection reports: Evaluation of and preparation of inspection reports for the employer or the client. Perform inspection survey in customer refineries, chemical plants, and building facilities for the purpose of assessing the mechanical integrity of the process equipment and verifying conformance to customer and code specifications. Maintain good records filing. Attend safety meeting / client meeting as and when required. Minimum Requirements Fresh graduates from local polytechnic are welcome to apply Candidates with 1-2 years of relevant engineering or inspection will have an added advantage Good to have: CSWIP 3.1, CSWIP 3.2 or AWS SCWI, API 570/510/653 Note This role is offered on a one-year renewable contract, subject to satisfactory individual performance and business requirements.
