Job Purpose The Regional Senior Vice President (SVP) –Reinsurance will be responsible for defining and driving the strategic growth,underwriting profitability, and market expansion of SG Re’s reinsuranceportfolio across the Asia-Pacific region. As a core member of the executiveteam reporting directly to the CEO, the Regional SVP will oversee treaty andfacultative lines, cultivate key ceding company and broker relationships, andensure robust underwriting discipline aligned with risk appetite and capitalmanagement guidelines. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & P&L Oversight Define and execute the regional reinsurance strategy to achieve revenue, market share, and combined ratio targets. Maintain full P&L accountability for the regional reinsurance book, continuously assessing portfolio performance and market dynamics. Partner with the CEO and Board to align capital allocation, retrocession strategy, and corporate growth objectives. 2. Underwriting & Portfolio Management Establish and refine regional underwriting guidelines, risk tolerances, and pricing frameworks across target lines (e.g., Property, Casualty, Specialty). Lead high-value treaty negotiations and oversee complex facultative placements. Direct portfolio monitoring, stress testing, and exposure management (e.g., CAT modeling oversight) to optimize risk-adjusted returns. 3. Business Development &Stakeholder Relations Serve as the primary senior relationship holder with key ceding companies, regional brokers, and strategic partners across APAC. Drive market expansion in core and emerging regional markets through new product offerings and customized risk solutions. Represent SG Re at key industry conferences, panels, and regulatory forums to elevate brand prestige and thought leadership. 4. Risk Governance, Compliance & Retrocession Ensure strict adherence to regional regulatory requirements, internal governance standards, and enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks. Collaborate with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Chief Actuary to manage accumulation risks and retrocession purchasing strategies. Lead quarterly portfolio reviews and articulate performance metrics directly to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee. 5. Team Leadership & Talent Development Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing team of senior underwriters, actuaries, and business development managers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning within the underwriting division. Qualifications & Key Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or related fields. Advanced degree (MBA) or professional insurance certifications (ACII, FCII, CPCU, or equivalent) strongly preferred. Experience: 15+ years of progressive reinsurance experience, with a proven track record of managing large-scale regional portfolios in the Asia-Pacific region. At least 5–7 years in a senior executive/P&L leadership role. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of treaty/facultative structures, pricing methodology, CAT modeling, retrocession strategies, and regional regulatory landscapes (MAS, APRA, etc.). Leadership & Network: Exceptional negotiation skills with an established, high-level network of regional brokers and ceding company executives. Strategic Mindset: Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance aggressive business growth with prudent risk management.
