Safety Coordinator Job Description (Construction Industry) Position: Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Coordinator / Safety Coordinator Industry: Construction Job Purpose: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of workplace safety and health (WSH) practices on construction sites. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a safe working environment, and prevents accidents or incidents. Key Responsibilities: 🔹 Site Safety Management Conduct daily site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and practices Ensure compliance with WSH Act, regulations, and company safety policies Monitor subcontractors and workers to ensure adherence to safety procedures 🔹 Risk Assessment & Control Assist in preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments (RA) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP) Identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures Follow up on corrective actions for safety issues 🔹 Safety Training & Communication Conduct toolbox meetings and safety briefings Assist in site safety induction for new workers Promote safety awareness and good safety culture on site 🔹 Incident Reporting & Investigation Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses Assist in investigations and recommend preventive measures Maintain proper documentation and records 🔹 Compliance & Documentation Maintain safety records, reports, and inspection checklists Ensure proper permits-to-work (PTW) are in place before work starts Liaise with authorities, consultants, and clients on safety matters 🔹 Emergency Preparedness Assist in emergency response planning and drills Ensure availability and proper use of safety equipment Support evacuation procedures and site emergency response Requirements: 🔹 Qualifications WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B) Valid WSH Coordinator certificate (Singapore requirement) 🔹 Experience Minimum 1–3 years of relevant experience in construction safety Experience working on construction / engineering sites preferred 🔹 Skills Good knowledge of Singapore WSH regulations Strong observation and problem-solving skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and on-site Working Conditions: Based on construction sites May require extended hours depending on project schedule Exposure to construction environment Key Competencies: Strong attention to detail Proactive and safety-conscious mindset Good teamwork and coordination abilities Ability to enforce rules while maintaining good working relationships
