Job Title: Production Coordinator (Steel Manufacturing) Job Summary The Production Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring production activities in a steel manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient production scheduling, optimal utilization of resources, and timely delivery of products while maintaining quality, safety, and cost standards. Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Scheduling Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer demand and inventory requirements. Coordinate with sales, procurement, and operations teams to align production plans. Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to meet changing priorities. Material & Inventory Coordination Ensure availability of raw materials such as steel billets, scrap, alloys, and consumables. Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to manage inventory levels and prevent stockouts or excess. Track usage and optimize material consumption to reduce waste. Workflow Management Coordinate activities across departments (melting, rolling, finishing, inspection, and dispatch). Monitor work orders and ensure smooth flow of materials through all stages of production. Identify and resolve bottlenecks or delays in the production process. Quality & Compliance Ensure production activities comply with company quality standards and industry regulations. Work closely with quality assurance teams to address defects and implement corrective actions. Maintain proper documentation of production records and reports. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Promote and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with safety standards specific to steel manufacturing (high temperature, heavy machinery, etc.). Participate in safety audits and incident investigations as needed. Reporting & Documentation Prepare production reports, performance metrics, and KPIs (output, efficiency, downtime). Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory, and schedules. Provide regular updates to management on production status and issues. Continuous Improvement Support lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or process improvement initiatives. Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements. Participate in cost reduction and productivity enhancement programs. Qualifications Education Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Experience 2–5 years of experience in production coordination or planning, preferably in steel or heavy manufacturing industries. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of steel production processes (melting, casting, rolling, finishing). Proficiency in production planning tools and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.). Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature industrial environment.
