Translator (Contract/Freelance) About the Role We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Translator to produce accurate, culturally appropriate translations across a wide range of subjects. You will work with source materials in various formats and ensure the translated text maintains the tone, intent, and clarity of the original. This role suits someone who is meticulous, resourceful, and proficient in multiple languages. Key Responsibilities Translate source content into the target language accurately, clearly, and with context-appropriate phrasing. Ensure the translated text retains the tone, style, and intent of the original. Work with source materials across different formats (print, video, audio), producing final outputs primarily in text format. Handle a wide range of subject matter, including commercial, educational, medical, legal, literary, scientific, and technical content. Conduct research to ensure professional phraseology and subject accuracy. Consult subject-matter experts when needed to ensure precise terminology. Collaborate with editors and follow editorial guidelines. Edit, review, and proofread translated content for accuracy and clarity. Requirements At least 2 years’ experience in translation, interpretation, communications, or journalism. Excellent command of two or more languages (e.g., English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Bengali, Vietnamese, Burmese, Thai, etc.). Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt to different styles and contexts. Strong understanding of cultural nuances and subject-specific terminology. Proficient with research tools including dictionaries, reference books, and translation software. Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver high-quality work.
