Application Support Engineer (Java)

About the Role We are looking for a motivated Java Application Support to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with business users, project leads, and technical teams to support, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications. You will be involved in business analysis, application support, troubleshooting, system enhancements, and continuous process improvements. This position is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in Java and SQL , strong communication skills, and a passion for solving business and technical challenges. Key Responsibilities Functional Support Understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Analyze, design, and support new system enhancements and existing functionalities. Perform data analysis, testing, and validation to ensure solutions meet business needs. Collaborate with project leads, business users, and development teams to improve business processes and system functionality. Technical Support Provide post-implementation application support and troubleshooting for Java applications. Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries for reporting and data analysis. Investigate and resolve production issues while improving application performance. Support project leads and users by providing timely technical assistance. Problem Solving Identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to Java applications, SQL databases, and (eventually) COBOL systems. Perform root cause analysis and recommend preventive improvements. Contribute to operational excellence through continuous system enhancements. Team Collaboration Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure clear communication and successful delivery. Participate in system improvement initiatives and process automation. Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Requirements Must-Have Skills Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience with Java programming. Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries. Technical Skills Experience with Enterprise Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or JPA. Experience with React and TypeScript for frontend development. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel VBA and Excel Macros is an advantage. Willingness to learn and support COBOL applications. Professional Skills Strong business analysis and requirement-gathering skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Self-motivated team player with a strong willingness to learn and grow. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. At least 1 year of experience in Java development. At least 1 year of experience working with SQL databases. At least 1 year of experience in Business-As-Usual (BAU) application support. At least 1 year of experience participating in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), implementation projects, or change requests.
