Purchasing Officer (Marine Supply / Fmcg)

Key Responsibilities Source and purchase FMCG/CPG products at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards. Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers and distributors. Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock availability while minimising excess inventory. Forecast purchasing requirements based on sales trends and vessel demand. Manage the complete procurement cycle from purchase order issuance through to final delivery onboard vessels. Coordinate with warehouse personnel, logistics providers, transport teams, and ship agents to ensure timely deliveries. Monitor vessel schedules and adjust procurement and logistics plans to meet operational timelines. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and cost efficiency. Resolve supply shortages, delivery issues, and urgent procurement requirements promptly. Maintain accurate purchasing records, inventory reports, and supplier documentation. Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce procurement costs. Requirements Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Procurement, or a related discipline is preferred. At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or supply chain operations. Experience in FMCG, CPG, wholesale distribution, food distribution, retail procurement, or similar industries will be advantageous. Experience in the marine, shipping, or ship chandling industry is an advantage but not mandatory. Good negotiation and supplier management skills. Strong inventory planning and stock management capabilities. Highly organised with strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work effectively under tight deadlines. Good communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers, logistics providers, warehouse personnel, and ship agents. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP or inventory management systems. A proactive problem solver who performs well in a fast-paced operational environment.
