About the role Software Engineers at Biobot Surgical are responsible for the design, development, testing, integration, and maintenance of software systems supporting robotic medical devices and associated platforms. Engineers are expected to work closely with cross-functional teams including Hardware, Firmware, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, and Product teams to ensure robust, safe, and user-centric solutions. Depending on project needs and individual expertise, Software Engineers may also contribute to advanced software capabilities including medical image processing, computer vision, artificial intelligence, machine learning and clinical decision support. These technologies support the development of next-generation software solutions that enhance clinician workflow, improve clinical decision-making and deliver better patient outcomes. Responsibilities 1. Advanced Responsibilities Contribute to the development of advanced software capabilities, including medical image processing, computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence and clinical decision support technologies. Develop software tools, algorithms and data processing pipelines that support intelligent clinical workflows and next-generation medical device capabilities. Support the translation of research concepts and prototype algorithms into robust, production-quality software suitable for regulated medical devices. 2. Core Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain software systems and features. Participate in debugging, troubleshooting, and system integration activities. Contribute to technical documentation, testing, and verification activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and continuity. Follow software development best practices, coding standards, and regulatory requirements. Support continuous improvement of software quality, maintainability, and reliability. Develop an understanding of clinical workflows and user needs to support development of safe, effective, and user-centric solutions. 3. Career Level Expectations (Software Engineer) Implement assigned software modules and tasks under guidance. Participate in code reviews and software testing activities. Learn and apply engineering processes and development workflows. Support issue investigation and bug fixing activities. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Strong software development fundamentals with relevant experience in software product design and development. Strong competency in at least one, and preferably multiple, of the following domains: o Robotic control systems o Image processing o Pattern recognition o Computer vision o 3D visualization o AI / machine learning for medical applications o System integration and software architecture Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++,C#, and/or Python. Experience with software version control andcollaboration tools such as Git and/or SVN. Familiarity with software frameworks and tools such asQT, OpenCV, VTK, ITK, ROS/ROS2, or equivalent would be advantageous. Knowledge and experience in medical imaging, image analytics, DICOM, or healthcare software systems would be advantageous. Experience with AI models, deep learning frameworks, or computer vision pipelines would be a plus. Familiarity with software lifecycle processes, testing methodologies, and regulated development environments is preferred. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good communication skills and proficiency in English as a working language. Independent, self-motivated, organized, and able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and professionalism appropriate to role seniority. Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical functions.
