About the Role bp is seeking a Compliance Director, RPTAP & Shipping to lead Ethics & Compliance (E&C) across Refining & Products Trading Asia Pacific & Middle East (RPTAP) and global Shipping operations . The role provides independent oversight of trading and shipping activities, helping the business operate responsibly while meeting legal, regulatory and bp standards. Reporting as a senior leader within E&C, you will partner with business leaders, regulators and global collaborators to strengthen compliance, manage risk and foster a culture of integrity and accountability. Key Responsibilities Compliance & Risk Oversight Be responsible for the E&C programme for RPTAP and Shipping, including policies, procedures, training and governance frameworks. Ensure effective controls to identify, prevent and address compliance risks across trading and shipping activities. Supervise surveillance and supervising programmes covering market conduct, anti-bribery and corruption, competition law, sanctions and anti-money laundering risks. Assess programme effectiveness and adapt to emerging regulatory and business risks. Strategic Leadership Provide E&C leadership and trusted guidance to RPTAP, Shipping and ST&S leadership teams. Promote an inclusive culture of integrity, accountability and Speak Up. Lead investigations into compliance concerns and ensure timely, appropriate resolution. Drive continuous improvement by challenging existing practices and identifying more effective ways of working. Stakeholder Management Build strong relationships across Legal, Finance, Risk, People & Culture, Business Integrity and commercial teams. Influence and challenge strategic partners while maintaining independence and objectivity. Represent bp on compliance matters with regulators, exchanges, trading venues and government authorities. Team Leadership Lead and develop the RPTAP E&C team and Shipping Ethics & Compliance Lead. Develop an inclusive, high-performing and collaborative team environment. Strengthen analytical capability, coaching and career development across the team. Global Collaboration Partner with regional and global compliance leaders to drive consistency, share best practices and support the business across time zones. Maintain an understanding of trading, shipping and regulatory developments relevant to RPTAP and Shipping. Essential Qualifications & Experience University degree or equivalent professional experience. Significant experience in commodity trading, gained in Compliance, Risk, Legal, Finance or commercial trading roles. Strong understanding of global ethics, compliance and regulatory requirements. Deep knowledge of trading and shipping risks, including regulatory, operational, legal and reputational risks. Proven track record to assess sophisticated issues, exercise sound judgement and make balanced decisions. Experience leading teams and developing inclusive, high-performing organisations. Strong communication, collaborator management and influencing skills, including engagement with senior executives. Ability to work independently, provide credible challenge and navigate critical compliance matters. Understanding of diverse cultural and geopolitical environments. Preferred Experience Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, exchanges and trading venues across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Existing relationships with regulators, exchanges or relevant industry bodies. Experience supporting global trading and shipping businesses.
