Responsibilities Vessel Accounting Maintain full sets of accounts for assigned vessels. Process and record vessel-related invoices, payments, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries. Ensure accurate allocation of vessel operating expenses and cost coding. Prepare monthly vessel accounts and financial reports. Reconcile vessel-related balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies. Support month-end and year-end closing activities. Budgeting & Cost Control Monitor vessel operating expenses against approved budgets. Analyze cost variances and provide explanations to management. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Review technical expenses, repairs, maintenance costs, spare parts, stores, and dry-docking expenditures. Provide recommendations to improve cost efficiency and financial performance. Accounts Payable & Compliance Verify invoices and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness. Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and settlements. Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and statutory requirements. Support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules and documentation. Stakeholder Coordination Liaise with Technical Superintendents, Fleet Managers, Procurement teams, and external suppliers on financial matters. Provide accounting support and financial information to operational departments. Respond to management queries and assist with financial analysis when required. Process Improvement Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and reporting procedures. Support finance-related projects, system enhancements, and process optimization initiatives. Perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Finance Manager. Requirements Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the shipping, maritime, or ship management industry. Experience in vessel accounting, ship management accounting, or marine finance operations is an advantage. Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. Preferred Qualifications Experience handling vessel operating expenses, technical costs, and dry-docking accounts. Familiarity with maritime accounting systems and ship management software. Experience working with multi-currency transactions and international shipping operations.
