Distribution Manager

Key Responsibilities Plan, manage, and oversee the distribution of products to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Develop and implement efficient distribution strategies to improve service levels and reduce operating costs. Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, logistics providers, and customers to ensure smooth distribution operations. Manage inventory movement and monitor stock availability to prevent shortages or overstocking. Supervise warehouse, logistics, and delivery personnel, ensuring productivity and compliance with company standards. Schedule and optimise delivery routes to maximise efficiency and minimise transportation costs. Monitor delivery performance and ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, workplace safety requirements, and company policies. Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, courier services, and transport contractors. Investigate and resolve delivery delays, damaged goods, customer complaints, and other distribution-related issues. Prepare distribution schedules, operational reports, inventory reports, and key performance indicators for management. Monitor distribution expenses and manage budgets to achieve cost-effective operations. Coordinate with the sales, procurement, and operations teams to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction. Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and service quality. Oversee stock transfers between warehouses, outlets, or distribution centres where applicable. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training, coaching, and guidance to distribution staff. Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, deliveries, transportation documentation, and logistics activities. Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and distribution assets are properly maintained and utilised. Develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions caused by supply chain issues or operational challenges. Perform any other duties assigned by the Directors or Management that are consistent with the role. Skills and Qualifications Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities. Good knowledge of logistics, warehouse management, and supply chain operations. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and performance metrics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory or logistics management systems. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain management is preferred. Performance Expectations Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
