Mechanic

Roles & Responsibilities Perform inspection, diagnosis, servicing, maintenance, and repair of heavy vehicles and construction equipment. Carry out mechanical repairs, engine overhauls, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, and hydraulic system repairs. Perform metal fabrication, welding, and general metal works when required. Repair and replace tyres, including wheel alignment and balancing. Carry out vehicle air-conditioning (A/C) servicing, repairs, and maintenance. Troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, lighting systems, batteries, alternators, and starters. Diagnose faults using appropriate tools and equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance and routine servicing to ensure vehicles are in safe operating condition. Inspect vehicles and identify defective or worn-out parts for replacement. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures. Keep the workshop clean, organized, and maintain tools and equipment properly. Perform any other duties assigned by the Workshop Supervisor or Manager. Requirements Minimum 2–5 years of experience in heavy vehicle or construction equipment maintenance and repair. Hands-on experience in mechanical repair and troubleshooting of heavy vehicles. Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and air-conditioning systems. Experience in metal fabrication, welding, tyre repair, and general workshop maintenance is an advantage. Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults independently. Familiar with the use of mechanical tools, workshop equipment, and diagnostic instruments. Able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Physically fit and willing to work overtime when required. Responsible, hardworking, and committed to workplace safety. Experience with excavators, tipper trucks, prime movers, or other heavy construction machinery will be an added advantage.
