Application Officer

On behalf of the hiring company, we are looking for a suitable candidate to join them as an Application Officer . Job Summary The Application Officer supports the delivery, development and maintenance of the company’s information systems to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. The role involves assisting the Senior Manager, Information Systems, in delivering IT services, coordinating application development projects, and providing ongoing system support to users. Key Responsibilities Assist the Senior Manager, Information Systems, in organising and delivering IT services across the company. Lead or coordinate project teams in the development, implementation and maintenance of the company’s information systems. Carry out system development activities in accordance with the established product development life cycle, including: System analysis and design, Programming and configuration, System and user documentation, Testing and implementation, User training, System maintenance and support Develop, enhance, and maintain software applications based on business and operational requirements. Troubleshoot application issues and provide technical support to users. Work with users and stakeholders to understand system requirements and recommend suitable solutions. Prepare and maintain the Information Systems department Quality, Environmental Management System (QEMS) documentation. Identify and evaluate new information technology applications, tools, and solutions where applicable. Participate in system reviews, process improvements, and continual improvement activities. Ensure compliance with the company’s environmental policy, including the reduction of waste generation and prevention of pollution. Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Manager, Information Systems. Job Requirements Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. At least 2 years of experience in software development or programming. Practical experience in application development, implementation, and maintenance. Experience working with the software development life cycle. Able to analyse business requirements and translate them into system solutions. Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Able to work independently and collaborate effectively within a project team. Good communication, documentation, and user-support skills. Technical Skills Proficiency in .NET and C# programming. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL queries. Knowledge of database design, stored procedures, and system integration. Experience with Crystal Reports would be an added advantage. Familiarity with application testing, deployment, documentation, and maintenance. Preferred Attributes Strong attention to detail and commitment to system quality. Good organisational and project coordination skills. Willingness to learn new technologies and business processes. Service-oriented and able to communicate effectively with users at different levels. Able to manage multiple assignments and work within project timelines. Remuneration will be pegged to qualifications and experience.
