About this role
ABOUT LUMILENS At Lumilens we are building the critical photonics infrastructure that powers tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing faster, cooler, and massively more efficient. We’re a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who’ve built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. This isn’t incremental innovation, it’s a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll work alongside a team of world-class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in optics, systems, and scale. Every line of code, every design decision, every breakthrough you help deliver will shape the infrastructure of tomorrow. If you're looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact jump on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started. Role Overview Hands-on contributor focused on characterization, test execution, and lab infrastructure. Roles & Responsibilities Execute device and PIC characterization (EO, OE, OO) at chip and wafer level. Set up and run high-speed measurements (bandwidth, BER, eye diagrams, etc.). Develop and maintain test automation scripts and measurement routines using LabVIEW and/or Python. Support wafer probing, optical alignment, and test setup bring-up. Troubleshoot and debug test setups and measurement issues. Analyze data and provide feedback to design and process teams. Support die sorting and yield data collection. Assist in transition from R&D to early production test flows. Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree or higher in EE, Physics, or related field. Experience Typically 3–7 years of relevant experience. Technical Skills Hands-on experience in photonics device testing or optical lab work. Familiarity with high-speed measurement equipment (VNA, oscilloscope, BERT). Basic understanding of optical communication systems. Programming & Tools Working proficiency in LabVIEW (preferred) and/or Python for test automation. Familiarity with instrument control (VISA/SCPI). Practical Skills Experience with optical alignment, fiber handling, and/or wafer probing. Ability to build, maintain, and debug lab test setups.
