About this role

The QC Technician supports the local QC function by carrying out sample preparation, physical and appearance checks, sieve checks, powder mixing / dissolution checks, result follow-up, external laboratory coordination and general laboratory operations. The role helps ensure that raw materials (RM) and finished goods (FG) are checked, tested and followed up in a timely, accurate and food-safety-compliant manner so that RM / FG release can be completed without unnecessary delay. Responsibilities: Sample management and testing support Receive, label, prepare and organise RM / FG samples for QC checks and external laboratory testing. Support sample registration, sample tracking and testing priority follow-up. Prepare samples for physical checks, sieve checks, powder mixing / dissolution checks, solubility / appearance checks and investigation comparisons. Send raw material and finished goods samples to external laboratories for testing where required. Follow up with external laboratories on pending results and testing status. Perform and document internal physical and appearance checks on RM / FG samples, including colour, appearance, lumps, black particles, sieve condition, solubility and other visible abnormalities. Carry out sieve checks, powder mixing / dissolution checks and visual inspections to identify potential issues such as lumps, black particles, unusual colour / appearance, floating particles, residue, settling or other visible abnormalities. Record observations clearly in the QC checklist / tracker, including photos or comparison samples where required, so that abnormal findings can be reviewed and traced properly. Escalate any abnormal finding, borderline observation, inconsistent result, missing information or urgent release concern promptly to the QC Manager / QC Executive before any release decision is made. COA and result follow-up support Assist in checking and compiling test results for RM / FG release. Support COA preparation and result entry under the guidance of the QC Manager / QC Executive. Ensure QC records, sample records and result follow-up trackers are updated accurately. Highlight urgent release priorities and testing delays that may affect production or customer commitments. Food safety, FSSC 22000 and compliance Perform QC tasks in accordance with company SOPs, FSSC 22000 food safety management system requirements, GMP, hygiene and contamination prevention practices. Apply basic food safety awareness when handling samples, laboratory materials, equipment and documents. Report sample abnormalities, potential contamination concerns, hygiene issues, equipment issues or unsafe conditions promptly. Maintain accurate and traceable records to support audit readiness and safe product release. Support audit preparation and follow-up actions where QC involvement is required. Laboratory operations Maintain good laboratory housekeeping, cleanliness and sample organisation. Support routine checks of QC equipment and laboratory condition. Coordinate or support equipment calibration follow-up where required. Manage basic lab consumables and highlight replenishment needs. Support proper storage and disposal of laboratory chemicals, samples and waste in accordance with safety requirements. Assist during investigations, retesting, sample comparison and complaint-related checks. About You: NITEC, Higher NITEC or Diploma in Chemistry, Food Science, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Science or a related scientific discipline. Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in QC, laboratory, food manufacturing, food ingredients, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or related environment. Fresh candidates with relevant scientific education, good attitude and willingness to learn may be considered. Basic knowledge or awareness of food safety, GMP, hygiene, HACCP or FSSC 22000 requirements is preferred. Basic understanding of sample handling, physical checks, laboratory documentation and COA support is preferred. Experience in food ingredient or premix manufacturing environment is an advantage. Able to follow SOPs and maintain accurate records. Good attention to detail and careful working habits. Able to communicate in English and coordinate with internal teams. Basic Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Outlook. Willing to perform hands-on laboratory and sample handling work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Singapore; this role does not provide sponsorship.
