ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a hands-on Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with strong experience in Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud migration and modernization, automation, governance, and cost optimization . In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, securing, automating, and supporting Azure-based platforms that enable enterprise applications, hybrid cloud environments, and digital transformation initiatives. This is a highly practical engineering position, requiring hands-on delivery rather than a purely architectural focus. You will translate business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, and production-ready cloud solutions, leveraging tools and technologies such as Terraform, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Azure cloud engineering best practices . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Build, configure and support Azure infrastructure across development, test, UAT and production environments. Deploy and manage Azure services including virtual machines, virtual networks, storage, Key Vault, Azure SQL, SQL Server on Azure VM, Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Private Endpoints, Application Gateway, Azure Firewall and DNS. Design, deploy and support Azure Virtual Desktop, including host pools, workspaces, application groups, session hosts, scaling plans, RemoteApp, FSLogix, golden image management, user access and troubleshooting. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform. Build reusable Terraform modules and manage remote state, state locking, environment separation, deployment promotion and drift control. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar tools. Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash or Python. Support cloud migration and modernization activities, including assessment, planning, dependency review, test migration, cutover, rollback and post-migration support. Support modernization of legacy applications through suitable Azure services, private endpoints, managed identities, monitoring, automation and CI/CD practices. Support hybrid connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure using VPN, ExpressRoute, routing, DNS, firewalls and private networking. Implement Azure security and governance controls including Azure Policy, RBAC, Microsoft Entra ID integration, Managed Identities, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, diagnostic logging and least privilege access. Support TCO analysis, Azure cost estimation, right-sizing, tagging, consumption monitoring and cloud cost optimisation reviews. Configure monitoring, alerting, logging, backup and recovery using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights and related services. Troubleshoot production issues involving Azure infrastructure, AVD, FSLogix, networking, identity, RBAC, Terraform, pipelines and hybrid connectivity. Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, deployment guides, runbooks, rollback procedures and operational handover documents. Work closely with infrastructure, application, security, project and vendor teams to deliver secure and supportable cloud solutions. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field. Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure, systems, cloud, platform engineering or DevOps roles. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in enterprise or production environments. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Terraform for Azure infrastructure deployment and management. Experience deploying and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop, including host pools, session hosts, RemoteApp, FSLogix, image management, scaling and troubleshooting. Experience with cloud migration, application modernization or infrastructure transformation projects. Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments connecting on-premises infrastructure with Azure. Experience with Azure networking, identity, security, monitoring, backup, governance and automation. Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar tools. Experience with TCO analysis, Azure cost estimation, right-sizing, tagging, cost allocation and cloud cost optimisation.
