Job Summary The Tower Crane Operator (TCO) safely operates luffing jib and saddle jib tower cranes at construction sites, collaborating with lifting teams to follow approved lifting plans and safety procedures while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities Operate luffing jib and/or saddle jib tower cranes safely and efficiently at construction sites Collaborate closely with lifting supervisors, signalmen, and lifting teams to ensure safe lifting operations Follow approved lifting plans, load charts, and site safety procedures consistently Conduct daily pre-operation inspections according to the manufacturer’s handbook to ensure crane safety Monitor crane performance during operations and promptly report any faults, malfunctions, or safety concerns Assess ground and site conditions relevant to lifting operations and communicate findings to the lifting supervisor Stop work immediately and notify the WSHE Department upon detecting any safety or regulatory deviations Maintain accurate records of crane operations and safety inspections for compliance and review Adhere strictly to workplace safety practices and instructions throughout all operations Demonstrate willingness to work overtime, including Sundays and Public Holidays, as required Required competencies and certifications Certificate in Tower Crane (Saddle Jib) Operation Registered Tower Crane Operator license issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Valid Tower Crane Operator License recognized by MOM or Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Building Construction Supervisor Safety Course certification Preferred competencies and qualifications Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating luffing jib and/or saddle jib tower cranes Proven experience in building construction projects Strong understanding of lifting plans, load charts, and safety procedures Familiarity with Singapore’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and safety standards Physical fitness, alertness, and safety-consciousness during crane operations Effective coordination and communication skills with signalmen and lifting supervisors Comfortable working at height and outdoors in construction environments Ability to work alone in confined spaces for extended periods
