Oasis Day Centre (ODC) is a psychiatric rehabilitation programme for people in recovery of mental illness or dual diagnosis (i.e., mild developmental disorders and mental illness). The main objective is to optimise clients’ level of function in the community, so as to cultivate independence, enhance interpersonal skills, and improve job readiness. Purpose: As a Social Work Associate, you are required to provide emotional and practical support to clients and their caregivers in order to help clients achieving their goals and improve their lives. Overall job objectives Provides emotional and practical support to clients and their caregivers in order to help clients achieve their goals and improve their lives. Instils hope and promote recovery and acceptance for clients through application of psychiatric rehabilitation principles. Core responsibilities A) Client Management Process the intake and discharge processes of clients, including receive referrals and arrange for intake interview with client/caregiver. Follow up with referral sources on interview outcomes. Network with SAMH services/external agencies in relation to clients’ goals/discharge planning & enhance visibility of programme. Support clients’ progress and intervention plans using multidisciplinary and team approach. Provide family support and intervention to facilitate clients’ attainment of goals such as conducting psychoeducational training for caregivers, with volunteers/peers. Attend enquiries made by the police, the public, visitors, and caregivers, referring them to relevant parties. Provide supportive counselling to clients/caregivers. Attend to disputes between clients and emergency situations such as fights, suicide attempts, or violent behaviour with team and update Supervisor/engage police help where necessary. B Rehabilitative Activities Conduct groupwork, psychoeducation workshops and other therapeutic sessions for clients, including budgeting, Activities of Daily Living (ADL), Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL), communication skills training modules, etc. for clients. Support Team Lead in working out step-by-step instruction for volunteers/peers to carry out intervention, providing guidance as needed. Co-plan and review programmes/activities for the month. Recommend new/modify programmes/activities to promote recovery of clients Conduct individual/group sessions to enhance caregivers’ understanding on mental health issues, reduce caregivers’ burnout and work in partnership to support clients in recovery, C Administrative Duties Write social reports, incident reports, case recordings, and letters to agencies/caregivers. Ensure proper upkeeping of clients’ records and database. Compile and report statistics to various stakeholders, KPI statistics under funding requirement, e.g NCSS half yearly report, MOH quarterly and annual report. D Any Other Duties Assist in SAMH events as assigned by Deputy Head/Team Lead. Attend networking sessions and be involved in national-level projects contributing to mental health landscape on need to basis. Deliver talks/workshops to the private/public/people sector as assigned Collaborate with and support other SAMH programmes when required. Any other duties as assigned by SAMH. Job specifications Diploma in psychology, social work, counselling, or sociology. Passion in working with adults in recovery of mental health issues and their family members. Able to work with minimal supervision and able to work in a multidisciplinary team. Have good verbal and written communication. Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and other internet applications such as Zoom and social media.
