Designation : Assistant Professor/Lecturer Location : Singapore Domain & Department : Academic Affairs, School of Counseling Employment Type : Full-time Contract Report to : Dean, SOC Work hours per week : 40 hours Key Responsibilities Course Instruction: Delivering engaging and comprehensive course instruction in counselling-related subjects, ensuring students’ understanding and application of theoretical concepts Academic Development: Actively contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of counselling programs and curricula Student Supervision and Guidance: Providing mentorship and support to students, fostering their academic and personal growth, and guiding them in their career aspirations Student Recruitment and Evaluation: Participating in the selection and evaluation process of prospective students, identifying individuals with strong potential for counselling studies Research and Publication: Engaging in scholarly research and publishing articles Institutional Support: Collaborating with colleagues and departments to support the overall objectives and mission of the institution Student Development: Demonstrating genuine care for students’ learning and spiritual development, promoting a nurturing and inclusive learning environment Community Involvement: Actively participating in the community life of the School of Counselling and the larger academic community within the institution Pre-Requisites Attributes Agreement with the College’s mission, vision, values, beliefs and Statement of Faith (see SBC’s website) Strong commitment to biblical principles and values Cross-cultural awareness and competence, valuing diversity in all aspects Openness to continuous learning, adaptability to changes and enthusiasm for integrating new teaching technologies Exemplary personal and professional ethics, upholding a high standard of integrity Self-motivated and capable of working independently, taking ownership of tasks with minimal supervision Eager to actively contribute to the institution’s values, objectives, and educational principles Spirituality Demonstrate a mature, biblically grounded faith in Holy Trinity Engage in ongoing spiritual growth through regular Scripture meditation and prayer with a strong supportive community Show commitment to integrating biblical principles into operations Model a Christ-centred approach to mentoring team members Apply biblical wisdom and values in decision-making in alignment with the College’s vision, mission and values Foster a grace-filled, accountable community reflecting Christ-like character Knowledge PhD, PsyD or Master Degree in Counselling or related field Experience Minimum 5 years of counselling experience (10 years for those with a Master’s degree) Experience in providing psychoeducation or training is an advantage Skills Proficiency in both English and Chinese for effective communication is preferred Demonstrated alignment with the institution’s mission, vision, values, beliefs and statement of faith Strong ability to collaborate as a team player and maintain positive interpersonal relationships Apply Now We welcome applications from those who are prayerfully discerning a call to serve with us.
