Position Title Violin Tutor Organisation Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) Employment Type Full-Time / Part-Time Job Summary The Violin Tutor is responsible for delivering high-quality Carnatic violin instruction in accordance with the SIFAS curriculum. The tutor will guide students of various age groups and proficiency levels, fostering musical excellence, discipline, and a deep appreciation for Indian classical music. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Instruction Conduct Carnatic violin classes for students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the SIFAS curriculum and examination requirements. Prepare students for practical examinations, concerts, workshops, competitions, and recitals. Develop students' technical proficiency in violin performance, including posture, bowing techniques, fingering, shruti alignment, gamakas, and manodharma. Monitor and assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement. Maintain attendance records and submit student assessments within stipulated timelines. Curriculum and Artistic Development Contribute to the development and enhancement of teaching materials and curriculum content. Prepare and rehearse students for annual productions, festivals, lecture demonstrations, and institutional events. Encourage students' musical creativity, performance confidence, and appreciation of Carnatic music traditions. Student and Parent Engagement Maintain effective communication with students and parents regarding progress, attendance, examination readiness, and performance expectations. Support student retention and encourage participation in SIFAS concerts, examinations, and other academy activities. Administrative Responsibilities Submit reports, examination marks, lesson plans, and other required documentation promptly. Participate in departmental meetings, tutor meetings, professional development programmes, and training sessions. Adhere to SIFAS policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines. Qualifications and Experience Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Carnatic Music/Violin Minimum 5–7 years of teaching experience in Carnatic violin. Strong knowledge of Carnatic music theory, violin techniques, repertoire, and performance practices. Experience preparing students for graded examinations, concerts, and stage performances. Ability to teach students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for music education.
