Role Overview The Senior Credit Officer is a senior-level risk management and credit leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end credit evaluation, approval, and portfolio monitoring process for the Singapore Branch. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the bank's asset quality by ensuring that lending decisions are prudent, well-structured, and aligned with the bank's internal credit policies, regulatory expectations, and overall risk appetite. The incumbent will work closely with front office, risk, compliance, and head office stakeholders to assess credit proposals, provide balanced and independent credit views, and support sound lending growth across corporate, institutional, and commercial banking relationships. The role also includes mentoring junior credit staff and contributing to branch-wide initiatives and special projects as directed by senior management. Job Description Conduct comprehensive credit evaluations for new credit facilities, renewals, amendments, and annual reviews by assessing borrowers' financial strength, repayment capacity, transaction structures, collateral coverage, and overall credit risk. Perform in-depth financial analysis of borrowers, including financial statements, cash flow, leverage, liquidity, profitability, and industry outlook, to formulate sound and independent credit recommendations. Review and approve credit proposals in accordance with delegated authority limits, ensuring compliance with the Bank's credit policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements. Monitor and oversee the quality of the credit portfolio by identifying early warning signals, tracking credit exposures, reviewing covenant compliance, and recommending appropriate risk mitigation strategies where necessary. Ensure adherence to internal credit governance frameworks, MAS regulations, and audit requirements by maintaining accurate, complete, and audit-ready credit documentation. Partner closely with Relationship Managers, business units, and Head Office to provide balanced credit advisory, evaluate transaction structures, and facilitate timely credit approvals and risk-related decisions. Provide guidance, coaching, and technical oversight to junior credit team members to ensure high-quality credit analysis, consistency, and adherence to established credit standards. Support strategic initiatives, policy implementation, process enhancements, and credit workflow improvements to strengthen operational efficiency, governance, and sustainable portfolio growth. Requirements Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in credit risk management within the banking or financial services industry. Proven experience in credit risk evaluation, credit approval, portfolio monitoring, and credit underwriting. Strong background in corporate, commercial, or institutional banking, with experience evaluating complex lending transactions and credit exposures. Sound knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit risk assessment, risk rating methodologies, and portfolio risk management. Good understanding of banking regulations, internal credit policies, and regulatory compliance requirements, with experience working in a regulated banking environment.
