Job Title: Modern& Contemporary Art Specialist Location: Singapore Reporting to: Managing Director Department: Art Sourcing Position Summary: Establish and grow AstaGuru’s Modern & Contemporary Art category in Singapore and Southeast Asia by driving sourcing, developing strong market relationships, and building a pipeline of high-quality consignments. The role focuses on identifying relevant artists, emerging trends, and key collections to position AstaGuru competitively within the global contemporary art landscape. Primary Responsibilities ● Source high-quality modern and contemporary artworks, including emerging and established artists ● Build and maintain relationships with galleries, artists, collectors, advisors, and institutions ● Develop networks within the contemporary art ecosystem across Singapore and Southeast Asia ● Identify and engage with new collectors, artists, and estates to drive sourcing opportunities ● Research, evaluate, and assess artworks for authenticity, relevance, and auction potential ● Track market trends, artist trajectories, and pricing benchmarks within the contemporary art space ● Build and manage a strong pipeline of consignments for auctions and private sales ● Collaborate with internal teams(research, marketing, catalogue) to support category positioning and storytelling ● Represent AstaGuru at art fairs,gallery openings, and industry events ● Travel within the region as required for sourcing and relationship building Qualifications ● 5+ years of experience in Indian/South Asian art, galleries, auction houses, or art advisory ● Strong exposure to international art markets preferred ● Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or related field ● Postgraduate qualification preferred Competencies & Skills ● Strong understanding of modern and contemporary art markets and trends ● Proven sourcing and evaluation capabilities ● Strong network within galleries,artists, and collectors ● Excellent research and analytical skills ● Strong communication and relationship management skills with a polished professional presence ● Independent, proactive, and market-aware approach ● Understanding of HNI/UHNI client behaviour ● Proficiency in MS Office tools
