Job Summary Responsible for leading and managing engineering design activities throughout the project life cycle, ensuring design deliverables are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements, schedules, and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Plan and define design deliverables, sequencing, and project design stages in accordance with contractual requirements. Establish production schedules and resource requirements in collaboration with planners and design coordinators. Monitor, track, and report design progress, ensuring efficient utilization of design resources and engineering hours. Establish design freeze dates and manage major design revisions (e.g., 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC milestones). Ensure proper revision control, document management, and drawing status tracking. Lead internal and external project design meetings and chair design review sessions. Develop and standardize design reports, presentations, and review processes. Ensure peer reviews are effectively planned and executed. Implement and maintain design-related SOPs, CAD standards, and document control procedures. Coordinate equipment tagging, component symbology, and client-specific design guidelines. Oversee updates to standard detail drawings and design documentation. Integrate procurement strategies into design planning and project sequencing. Identify design changes and support project teams in evaluating impacts on project execution. Manage and oversee Design Coordinators and ensure effective multidisciplinary coordination. Oversee key that interfacing points are managed (e.g. Archi with C&S backgrounds, BMS [Process/Mech/Elec/ELV] et cetera…) Track and manage design coordination tools, including Room Books, Load Lists, Interface Matrices, and other interdisciplinary data management systems. Ensure building and facility requirements are incorporated into designs, including openings, penetrations, trenches, plinths, and embedded items. Coordinate with project managers, consultants, authorities, contractors, subcontractors ,and vendors throughout project delivery. Qualifications& Experience Degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 10 years of engineering design and project coordination experience. Strong background in multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects. Experience managing design activities in fast-track project environments. Extensive knowledge of local construction practices and design implementation requirements. Technical Competencies Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and PDF management tools. Strong understanding of engineering design principles and construction methodologies. Knowledge of project execution processes and design management best practices. Familiarity with local codes, standards, and authority requirements for design implementation. Experience in document control, revision management, and interdisciplinary coordination.
