Job Description – Science Laboratory Assistant cum Admin Support Assistant Location: Jurong East Contract Period Base Year: 1 January 2027 – 31 December 2027 Option to Renew: 1 January 2028 – 31 December 2028 (subject to the school's requirements and contract extension) Working Hours During School Term Monday to Friday 6:45 AM – 4:15 PM Includes 1-hour lunch break During School Holidays Required to work only during: First and last week of the June school holidays First and last week of the December school holidays Working Hours: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM Includes 1-hour lunch break Not required to work during: Middle 2 weeks of June holidays Middle 3 weeks of December holidays Total Working Weeks Approximately 47 weeks per year About the Role We are looking for a proactive and organised Science Laboratory Assistant cum Admin Support Assistant to support the school's Science Department and General Office. The successful candidate will provide laboratory, administrative, reception, and operational support to ensure the smooth running of daily school activities. Key Responsibilities Science Laboratory Support Prepare, set up, and clear laboratory apparatus and materials for Science lessons. Assist teachers with practical experiments, demonstrations, STEM activities, and investigations. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of laboratories and preparation rooms. Manage laboratory inventory, equipment, chemicals, and teaching resources. Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment of supplies. Conduct routine inspections of laboratory equipment. Arrange maintenance and repairs for faulty equipment. Support stock-taking and inventory audits. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures. Store, handle, and dispose of laboratory materials and chemicals safely. Perform regular safety checks and report any hazards promptly. General Office & Administrative Support Serve as the first point of contact for parents, visitors, vendors, and guests. Handle enquiries professionally via face-to-face interactions, telephone calls, and emails. Manage visitor registration and ensure school security procedures are followed. Perform administrative duties including: Filing and document management Data entry Scheduling and appointment coordination Preparing letters, reports, forms, and other documents Support day-to-day office operations and administrative activities. School Operations & Programme Support Provide logistical support for school events, meetings, programmes, and activities. Assist the Science Department and Environment Education Team in programmes such as: STEM Activities Environmental Education Programmes Learning Journeys Exhibitions Enrichment Programmes Support school events, Open House, parent engagement activities, and special projects. Work closely with teachers, school leaders, operations staff, and external vendors. Perform other duties assigned by School Leaders, the Operations Manager, or Heads of Department. Requirements Qualifications Minimum Secondary School education At least 3 years of relevant working experience in one or more of the following: Science laboratory operations School administration Customer service within a school environment Knowledge Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and safety practices. Familiarity with office administration and customer service. Skills Good communication and interpersonal skills. Organised, responsible, and able to multitask. Comfortable interacting with students, parents, teachers, and visitors. Able to work independently as well as part of a team. Basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
