Responsibilities The Pre-Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting business development and tender activities by translating customer requirements into technically sound, commercially viable, and competitive solutions. The role serves as the key interface between Sales, Customers, Vendors, and Project Technical Teams throughout the pre-sales lifecycle, from opportunity identification to contract award and project handover. 1. Customer Engagement & Requirements Analysis • Engage customers to understand operational, functional, and technical requirements. • Participate in customer meetings, technical discussions, workshops, and site surveys. • Review customer specifications, tender requirements, and project constraints. • Identify customer needs, pain points, and solution opportunities. • Clarify technical requirements and assumptions with customers and stakeholders. • Support sales teams during customer engagements and tender clarification sessions. 2. Solution Development & Technical Proposal Preparation • Lead the development of technical solutions that meet customer requirements and project objectives. • Work closely with Project Technical Teams to develop solution concepts and implementation approaches. • Coordinate technical reviews to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, compliant, and deliverable. • Prepare system architecture diagrams, network layouts, design concepts, and technical narratives. • Develop technical proposals, method statements, and scope of work documentation. • Ensure solutions comply with applicable standards, specifications, regulations, and customer requirements. • Identify technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, and mitigation measures. 3. Tender & Bid Management • Review RFPs, RFQs, ITTs, and tender documents. • Perform compliance assessment against tender requirements. • Prepare compliance matrices and technical response documents. • Coordinate bid submissions with internal stakeholders and external partners. • Manage tender-related clarifications, customer queries, and evaluation meetings. • Ensure all technical submissions are completed accurately and submitted on time. • Maintain records of tender assumptions, exclusions, and qualifications. 4. Cost Estimation & Commercial Support • Obtain and consolidate cost inputs from Project Technical Teams, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. • Gather equipment pricing, software costs, engineering effort estimates, installation costs, testing and commissioning costs, training costs, and project management costs. • Review quotations received from vendors and subcontractors. • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) and cost estimation models. • Validate costing assumptions and ensure consistency across all cost elements. • Identify cost optimization opportunities while maintaining compliance and technical performance. 5. MRD Quotation & Cost Breakdown Preparation • Consolidate all costing inputs into the approved MRD Quotation Template and Cost Breakdown Template. • Prepare detailed pricing breakdowns and cost summaries for internal review. • Ensure cost data is accurate, complete, and supported by appropriate quotations and assumptions. • Calculate project margins, contingencies, and commercial provisions in accordance with company guidelines. 6. Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination • Engage vendors, suppliers, and partners for solution support and quotations. • Evaluate products and technologies for suitability, compliance, and competitiveness. 7. Technical Presentation & Solution Demonstration • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers and management. • Conduct solution walkthroughs, proof-of-concepts (POC), and product demonstrations. • Support customer technical evaluation and assessment activities. 8. Cross-Functional Coordination • Act as the primary interface between Sales, Customers, Project Technical Teams, Vendors, and Management during pre-sales activities. • Coordinate internal review meetings to ensure alignment on scope, technical solution, costs, and project risks. 9. Risk Assessment & Solution Validation • Identify technical, operational, schedule, and commercial risks associated with proposed solutions. • Conduct feasibility assessments with Project Technical Teams. • Ensure all significant project risks are highlighted during management reviews. 10.
