About this role

Job Purpose The Project / Repair / Maintenance Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing vessel repair, maintenance, upgrading, and engineering projects. The role ensures that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Plan, coordinate, and supervise repair, maintenance, retrofit, and upgrading activities for vessels and marine systems. Review technical specifications, drawings, work scopes, and customer requirements. Monitor project progress and ensure project milestones are achieved according to schedule. Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and vendors to support project execution. Prepare work plans, inspection schedules, and project reports. Technical Support & Engineering Provide technical support during project execution, troubleshooting, and defect rectification. Conduct site inspections and assess vessel conditions to determine repair or maintenance requirements. Support root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable classification, statutory, and company requirements. Review engineering documentation and maintain accurate project records. Maintenance & Repair Management Coordinate preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities. Monitor repair quality and ensure work is completed according to specifications and standards. Manage testing, commissioning, and handover activities upon project completion. Track maintenance history and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and operational performance. Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements, company policies, and industry regulations. Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, safety inspections, and incident investigations as required. Ensure quality control procedures and inspection requirements are followed throughout project execution. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity, and work quality. Stakeholder Coordination Liaise with customers, classification societies, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments. Attend project meetings and provide updates on project status, risks, and resource requirements. Build positive working relationships with stakeholders to support successful project delivery. Requirements Education Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline. Experience Experience in vessel repair, maintenance, shipbuilding, marine engineering, or related industries preferred. Experience managing repair, maintenance, retrofit, or engineering projects is an advantage. Fresh graduates with relevant marine or engineering exposure may be considered for junior positions. Technical Competencies Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and maintenance documentation. Knowledge of marine systems, machinery, equipment, and maintenance practices. Familiarity with project planning and coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of project management software is an advantage.
