About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Equipment Engineer to support the equipment maintenance and continuous improvement functions within REC's Modules manufacturing plant. The incumbent will play a key role in driving equipment reliability, operational efficiency, product quality, and manufacturing excellence in support of REC's ambition to be the world's leading solar modules producer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Take ownership of the performance and reliability of assigned equipment, driving improvements in Quality, Uptime, Throughput, Cost, and OEE through systematic problem solving, design enhancements, and machine optimization. Plan, execute & optimize Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PDM), and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities according to planned schedules and standards. Perform advanced & systematic equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence of failures. Prepare incident reports, troubleshooting guides, and best-known methods (BKM) to support knowledge sharing and technician training. Coordinate equipment-related activities with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of maintenance and production operations. Analyze spare parts consumption trends, manage inventory optimization, and drive corrective actions for recurring part failures and reliability issues. Drive continuous improvement of equipment performance through design modifications, reliability enhancements, and machine optimization. Support projects related to process optimization, cost reduction, system upgrades, Cpk improvement, equipment qualification, and new material evaluation. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards during all maintenance and engineering activities. Perform other duties as assigned based on project and organizational needs, including supporting shift personnel management, addressing operational and interpersonal issues, and fostering a collaborative work environment. ESSENTIAL JOB COMPETENCIES: Equipment Performance & KPI Ownership : Own, sustain and improve key equipment KPIs including Quality, Uptime, Throughput, Cost, and OEE through effective equipment maintenance, design improvements, and machine optimization initiatives. Maintenance Execution & Technical Expertise : Strong competency in Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PDM), and TPM, supported by effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis to reduce downtime and recurrence of failures. Continuous Improvement & Engineering Support : Ability to support process optimization, equipment upgrades, Cpk improvement, system qualification, and material evaluation initiatives. Cost & Spare Parts Management : Capability to support spare parts management and maintenance cost control while ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Safety, Compliance & Collaboration : Strong adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards, with effective cross-functional coordination and knowledge sharing through documentation (BKMs, reports, troubleshooting guides). Personnel Management & Conflict Resolution: Ability to effectively manage shift personnel, foster teamwork, address workplace conflicts professionally, and maintain a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment to support operational goals. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Take full ownership of assigned equipment, providing technical leadership and support during critical breakdowns and off-hour downtime situations to ensure equipment reliability and business continuity. Depending on the competencies developed, Engineers will be given the opportunity to lead new line conversion projects or new machines industrialization projects. QUALIFICATIONS Technical / Professional: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related disciplines. Entry level candidates are welcome to apply. Working experience in Solar or Semiconductors manufacturing industry preferred. Technological: Strong knowledge or hands-on experience in automation systems, pneumatic systems, servo/linear motion systems, motors, sensors, and electrical schematics. Familiarity with PLC systems and industrial automation is an added advantage. General: Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
