Job Summary The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the technical management, operation, maintenance, and performance of all hard services within the client's premises. Oversee vendors and contractors to ensure all building systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems, facilities maintenance, troubleshooting, contractor management, and service delivery within a facilities management environment. Key Responsibilities Facilities Operations & Technical Management Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of building services and M&E systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, UPS, generators, and associated infrastructure. Ensure all preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and breakdown works are completed within agreed service levels and contractual requirements. Conduct regular site inspections and technical audits to ensure facility assets are operating efficiently and safely. Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions for recurring equipment failures and maintenance issues. Monitor plant and equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize system reliability and operational efficiency. Ensure all facility assets comply with statutory requirements, local regulations, client specifications, and industry standards. Contractor & Vendor Management Supervise, coordinate, and manage third-party contractors, specialist vendors, and service providers performing maintenance and repair works. Review contractor work quality, performance, safety compliance, and adherence to maintenance schedules and service level agreements (SLAs). Coordinate contractor activities to minimise operational disruptions and ensure timely completion of maintenance works. Review maintenance reports, quotations, method statements, risk assessments, and permits submitted by contractors. Ensure contractors comply with site safety requirements, permit-to-work procedures, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards. Evaluate contractor performance and identify opportunities for service improvement and cost optimisation. Client & Service Delivery Management Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the client on all engineering and hard services matters. Ensure contractual obligations, KPI targets, and service delivery standards are consistently achieved. Maintain strong working relationships with clients, providing timely updates on maintenance activities, incidents, and ongoing improvement initiatives. Prepare and present monthly operational reports, maintenance performance reports, and engineering updates to the client. Support the Facilities Manager in business reviews, client meetings, and service enhancement initiatives. Identify and support opportunities for additional works and value-added services to enhance service delivery and business growth. Compliance, Safety & Risk Management Ensure all maintenance activities comply with statutory regulations, local authority requirements, client policies, and company procedures. Implement and enforce EHS policies, risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and safe work practices. Support audits, inspections, emergency preparedness exercises, and incident investigations. Maintain all licenses, certifications, maintenance records, asset registers, and engineering documentation in an accurate and up-to-date manner. Projects & Continuous Improvement Support execution of minor projects, asset replacement initiatives, fit-out works, and system upgrades. Review technical proposals and recommend engineering solutions that improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness. Identify opportunities for energy savings, sustainability improvements, and lifecycle asset management. Requirements Qualifications & Experience Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant facilities engineering experience, preferably within an integrated facilities management (IFM), outsourced FM, or service provider environment.
